Over $30,000 a month from collecting phone numbers through email
$30,000a month from the funnels
15%of people in the funnels shared their phone number
<0.1%unsubscribed
The client journey at a brokerage
A lead arrives from a traffic source → a manager calls them → the lead becomes a client (or doesn't).
Somewhere between “left their contact details” and “paid,” the lead keeps receiving emails that build trust in the company and convince them to choose this particular broker.
But there's a catch. Because of how the business works, a deal can only be closed by a call center manager. And some leads leave a wrong phone number, which makes them much harder to work with.
How does this happen?
At the lead generation stage, a person lands on a page that offers a freebie, such as a trading book, in exchange for their phone number and email. They enter a real email to get the book, but a fake phone number to avoid calls.
So here's the situation:
The sales manager can't call them to sell the product.
The email marketer has to convince the lead to share their phone number, so the manager can close the sale.
This adds an important extra step. Our emails don't just tell the lead how great the company is and why they should choose it. They guide the lead toward sharing their phone number.
How we did it
First, we needed to understand which promotion brought each lead in. Who is our lead?
A fan of automation and trading robots?
A future investor who wants to learn?
Someone looking for easy money?
Depending on their interests, which we could tell from their traffic source, each lead entered one of several funnels built specifically to get their phone number.
For example, this is the funnel we built for people who wanted to learn trading:
Instead of a simple welcome email, we sent a series of messages announcing an *amazing new book on investing*. The book was created specifically at the email marketing team's request, so it wasn't available anywhere else.
When a lead clicked “I Want the Book,” they landed on a page that explained which questions the book answers. After clicking “Get the Book,” they saw a pop-up: “We'll send you the link by SMS. Please leave your phone number.”
And that's it! The bargain hunter trades their phone number for a book, guide or planner → the manager calls → the lead becomes a client.
P.S. We worried that so many clicks and steps might annoy people, but unsubscribe and click-through rates stayed within the normal range.
Leads who didn't share their number got an email about an audiobook 5 days later, an investing guide 5 days after that, and a book on cryptocurrency 5 days after that.
A lead could leave the funnel only by sharing their phone number or by receiving every email in the series.
By the way, fewer than 0.1% unsubscribed. We made an exception for them and let them out of the funnel.
We tested series of 2 to 8 emails and settled on 4, because people started losing interest by the fifth email.
The results
15% of the people who entered the funnels ended up sharing their phone number.
In total, these funnels brought in around $30,000 a month, and that's only from leads who hadn't left their phone number at first!
It was an unconventional approach. The main goal of email marketing here wasn't just to build loyalty and drive sales, but to coax out phone numbers.
And even with this unusual strategy, email marketing performed exceptionally well.

How we audit our clients' email marketing
58pages of in-depth analysis
1personalized roadmap
A client came to us with this request: “We've set up some email campaigns ourselves, but we're not sure they're working well. Could you check how things are going?”
First, a quick note: an audit is a thorough review of every aspect of email marketing, from technical details to visual design. We dive deep into everything in the client's account to give the most complete feedback on what to add or improve.
What the audit included
Analysis of email performance in the Klaviyo dashboard
A review of how the existing campaigns are set up
A check of sent emails for anything that could trigger spam filters, in both design and code
A check of the technical settings in the domain's DNS
A quality check of the email list for suspicious, blocked and unreachable addresses, as well as spam traps
A test of the domain's reputation with major email providers such as Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo (we choose the providers during the audit)
A check of whether the domain is on any blacklist
A check of whether the IP address is on any blacklist
Finding the causes of weak campaign performance and deliverability issues, with step-by-step recommendations to fix them
What the client got
We examined their DNS settings, contact database, every active campaign, signup forms, email content and technical setup in detail, and gave clear recommendations for improving each of them.
Along with 58 pages of in-depth analysis, we delivered a clear, actionable strategy. Of course, the client doesn't have to read every page. Everything they need is summarized in a separate section that highlights the key problems and offers step-by-step solutions.
We also went a step further and suggested how to improve their overall strategy: which campaigns to add, which to scale back or expand, and how to use their resources more wisely.
Our updated strategy went beyond email. We recommended adding SMS and web push notifications to engage the audience more effectively.
After sending the report, we also set up a call to walk the client through each step of the audit and discuss the findings in detail.
In the end, the client got a personalized roadmap to make their email marketing not just more effective, but truly profitable.

+1228% more subscribers thanks to an improved signup form
Growth takes strategy. When we teamed up with this organic seed store, their goals were clear: bring all email flows into one email platform, raise conversion rates, improve deliverability, sharpen segmentation and get more subscribers from their signup form. Want to know how we did it? Read on.
About the brand
Category: Organic seed store
Years in business: 8
Challenge
This online organic seed store wanted to take its email marketing to the next level. The team aimed to track customer activity better in their email platform, get more conversions from email campaigns and improve overall email marketing performance.
Solution
Our first challenge was that the client used several email platforms at once, which made it hard to track customer activity. To fix this, we moved everything to a single platform, built signup forms inside it and launched engaging campaigns. We also validated and segmented the email list and improved sender reputation and deliverability. These efforts led to impressive results, which you can see below.

Gmail reputation: how we turned it from Bad to Good
GoodGmail reputation, up from Bad
4%average open rate at the start
15×volume growth in about a month
When we joined the project, our audit showed that one of the domains had a Bad reputation and an average open rate of just 4%.
“Wow, this is a real challenge,” we thought.
The investigation begins
We started looking into what had caused such a sharp drop in reputation.
At the time, the company sent three types of emails:
Conversion: users who confirmed their email but hadn't paid yet
Retention: paying users who confirmed their email
Cold outreach: potential clients who had never heard of the sender
Naturally, each type used its own domains and IP addresses. The main domain, which also hosted the website, was used for subscribers, while separate domains were set up just for cold outreach.
It turned out that the email marketer had mixed up the domains and sent several mass spam campaigns from the main domain. This quickly "buried" its reputation with every email provider.
By the time of our audit, more than 5 months had passed since that mistake. The situation was nearly fatal, but the client was determined to keep the main domain.
“Let's fix this!” they said. “Well, let's get started…” we mumbled, bracing ourselves for the challenging process ahead.
Reputation recovery. The first steps
First, we had to warm up an additional domain (things were already so bad that we could afford to wait one more month). In August, we moved all campaigns for the engaged list to the new domain and put the main one on hold so it could recover.
We let the main domain rest for a week before getting to work.
We added the domain to a warm-up tool and monitored its progress closely. For the first 14 days nothing improved, but from day 15 the reputation score began to climb from Bad to Low. By day 28, the score finally passed 70. Gmail Postmaster, however, still showed a poor reputation.
Keeping the warm-up running, we brought the domain back into the email platform, but at a very small volume, to keep warming up the domain and IP together. We sent only our best-performing campaign, the one with a high open rate.
Reputation recovery. Initial successes
Within about a month, we increased the volume almost 15 times. It was still fairly small overall, but (hallelujah!) Postmaster finally showed some movement. By the end of September, the reputation had improved to Low. Then it dropped back to Bad. Then it was Low again (oh, Gmail, you joker…).
Once the reputation had improved a little, we wrote Gmail a “please help us” letter. We explained that we met all their requirements and truly wanted to restore our good reputation. In other words, we asked for help.
We never got a reply, so we simply kept doing our job. Authentication was in place, the list was cleaned and validated, open rates were stable and the domain was still warming up.
The light at the end of the tunnel
20 days later, the reputation score reached Medium, and we were overjoyed. We kept increasing the volume and gradually moved all campaigns back to the main domain. We tracked the metrics for each mailbox separately and tested every email before sending it.
Fortunately, there were no setbacks.
In December, we finally saw the long-awaited “Good” reputation status, and it has stayed that way ever since.
